Just like most other non-profit organizations, the life's blood of River Walk Journal, Inc. is its volunteers and donations from readers. Volunteers manage the day-to-day activities of the organization - reviewing submissions, writing book reviews, writing content for our site, helping with fundraising activities, appearing in schools and communities for seminars, arranging appearances of authors in schools and communities, and many other tasks. Without our volunteers, there would not be an online journal, educational programs, or book programs for needy children. Whether you live in Southwestern Pennsylvania or not, there may be a volunteer opportunity for you. For information on current volunteer positions available, visit: Donations to River Walk Journal, Inc. pay for our web presence, printing of materials on our programs, books for needy children, and other general operating costs of the organization. Even small donations help - $5 can buy a book for a child $10 can print 25 brochures on our educational programs so teachers and professors can know what programs are available for their students $25 can buy two RWJ T-shirts for disaster victims in a "care package" for a school or library affected by a natural disaster Our "books for children" program is currently limited to the Southwestern Pennsylvania region, but our "collegiate edition" - hands on learning about how a literary journal works - and "disaster relief" programs are not limited regionally. Because our organization is small, we do everything we can to make every dollar count. To donate securely online visit: If you're a Pennsylvania resident, and would be interested in local fundraising activities, contact our publisher at publisher@riverwalkjournal.org. We welcome individuals and groups that would like to make a positive impact in their own communities, and will help them organize and run fundraising programs. River Walk Journal, Inc. will make every effort to make sure donations are used to help the community of the donor, particularly in Western Pennsylvania. Share your love of reading and literature, and help us promote literacy and a lifelong love of reading today. Literature is Life...Live to Read. |
