A few years ago, there was a writers' group on Yahoo! that gave writers the opportunity to receive concrete suggestions for improvement of works. The members helped each other, sometimes through several re-writes, to make their writing "publishable." Someone asked where the works could end up being published, and River Walk Journal was born.

Since then, the online journal expanded, the organization was incorporated as a non-profit in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and took an active role in literacy and education. The original writing group still exists, and writers who submit works to the journal are still asked to join.

The group has been essentially inactive for several months, in part due to the forced move of the website to a new server after a hacker attack against the previous provider. It also suffered through a proliferation of spammers.

Now we have a stable server, and have filled most (if not all) the holes the spammers were using to fill the forums with advertisements for sex and drugs. So we're ready for a revival of the thing that started it all - the editing group.
